NYC Newborn Photography Session
Charlie’s Long Island City newborn session was one of my recent favorite sessions.
Charlie’s mom told me that Charlie is an amazing sleeper. Usually I am a little skeptical when I hear this, as most babies at his age sleep most of the day (at least 20 hours). Babies are typically swaddled and wrapped up which helps them stay asleep. They’re not used to posing nude, which causes them to stir. As a result, I have parents heat up the room to 80 degrees prior to my arrival, which helps them stay warm. Babies have a large surface area to body ratio, and poor temperature regulation. Making sure they stay warm is super important. Charlie’s mama was right when she said he is a great sleeper. He snoozed through all of his poses. He was such a photogenic baby and looked amazing with the sage green and creams that we used.
I’ve recently added silhouette backlit family shots to my sessions and I absolutely LOVE how they look. For family photos I’ve transitioned to greys, whites and more neutral colors. These colors make for art that can fit anywhere in any home!
