Manhattan Cake Smash Session

It took a while for Logan to get into his cake smash, but once he did there was no stopping this kid! Initially he was all tears (captured these cute moments of course). He would glance over at the light, look at me, and then hysterically cry. It was so cute, he definitely knew what I was up to! Sometimes this does happen and I have to give the baby some time to warm up to the stimulation and the new experience. I took him to the side where we played with Mickey Mouse (his absolute favorite!) Eventually he started to smile again. We introduced him slowly back onto the set, his mom right in his sight and nearby. Eventually I was able to move the cake back into position, and get him to where I needed.

Well, once he was warmed up, he was on a roll. He realized that this cake thing wasn’t so bad after all. In fact, he realized that he LOVED it. “Yum this frosting tastes delicious” was written all over his face. He started giving me big smiles and didn’t mind the camera flash at all (what flash?!)

Typically kids start out smiling and get to a point where they’ve had enough and start to cry. I always encourage parents to let them cry it out a little bit as these make for such cute and funny memories. Parents always end up selecting one for their gallery. Can’t wait to see what Logan will think when he looks back on the myriad of expressions and moods he had during his first birthday shoot.
