Best NJ Newborn Session

Baby Aspen’s newborn session was extra special, as his mama is also a newborn/maternity photographer in NYC. It’s always such an honor when a photographer asks you to capture this special time in their lives. We met several years back through another photographer in NYC and have become very close friends.

Family portraits were a top priority on the day of his session. Aspen’s mom had a few special requests. As a photographer, it was important for her to incorporate photography into his session. She found a super cute little felt camera. My wrapped pose was a perfect way to incorporate the camera that she bought.

As a photographer, I knew she would be able to snap a few (or many!) shots of her baby by herself, so we aimed to shoot poses that wouldn’t be possible for her to shoot. The photo with Aspen encircled by her parent’s hands was a photo she wanted to capture for his session. I love how it turned out.

Prior to his shoot, Aspen’s mom searched the internet for the perfect white dress to wear for his silhouette shots. This dress, from Sleeper was great for silhouette photos. I loved the details the sleeves provided, which made for some dreamy photos.

Aspen did great during his session (we joked beforehand that as a photographer’s baby, and just our luck, he would be awake the entire session.) He snoozed through, and only fussed when he was moved. His mom gave him an A- for his cooperation.
