First Birthday Cake Smash Session

Vera’s mom contacted me for a cake smash session for her daughter a couple of months ago. She was so excited for her daughter’s first birthday session, and wanted it to be extra special because they weren’t going to throw a big party due to the pandemic.

Vera’s family loves Paris so it was only fitting that they chose a cake that had macaroons on top of it. Her mom also wanted something with a little extra sparkle. I recently bought this new pink fabric tassel banner, which I was super excited to use. Vera’s mom loved it and chose it for her session. It paired perfectly with Vera’s pink cake, and outfit.

Vera was all smiles for her session. Big sis Grace was there behind my camera to make her laugh. Vera was a natural on camera, and not shy at all.

I recently bought this cute pink overall romper from Zara kids. A lot of my outfits come from speciality photography vendors, but Zara kids oftentimes has great outfits that work perfectly in my set-ups, especially the pre-cake smash portraits. I think I’ve shopped more at Zara for kids than for myself, since the pandemic started. It’s so fun to add new wardrobe items to my collection.
