NYC Top Milestone Session

Michael’s mom had contacted me a few weeks after Michael started to sit up on his own unsupported. She was so excited to capture this stage. I absolutely love doing milestone sessions. They truly make for such a different look compared to the newborn or cake smash sessions.

I love capturing classic portraits of baby during milestone sessions and converting them to black & white. What I love about sitter sessions is that babies are pretty immobile at this stage. They can’t crawl off my scene, or even walk off it. They generally sit in place and smile at the camera. I love getting variety with the different ways they are able to “pose” which includes having them sit upright, lay on their backs, and lean forward with their hands in front of them.

Michael had the most delicious arm rolls and chubby cheeks. That’s another great thing about this stage! Once babies become more mobile and start to walk/crawl their cute little baby features such as their rolls tend to disappear.
