Best NYC Rainbow Cake Smash Session

Don’t be fooled by this little guy’s cheeky smiles. He didn’t give us these expressions until the very end of his session. We had to WORK for them! Sometimes babies give serious faces throughout the session, and at the very end they’ll give a few little smiles and I am able to capture 5-6 frames of photos. Mom and dad certainly chose all of the smiling faces for his final gallery.

I love this rainbow theme because it works perfectly for both girls and boys. It makes for a fun and colorful session. I have plenty of rainbow design cakes to coordinate with it. Pody’s parents had seen this set up on my blog and knew they wanted to do it for his session.

Pody was standing unsupported during his session so we captured this cute photo of him standing, commemorating his big milestone. I always start with portraits of baby prior to the cake smash. This gets them comfortable in front of the camera, which sometimes can take a bit of time. Once they’re all warmed up, they’re ready to go for the cake smash part of the session.
