Bergen County Cake Smash Photography Session

James had a lot to live up to for his one year cake smash session. His session took place in his family’s home in Bergen County, NJ. James’ older sister Chloe had done her cake smash a little over a year and a half ago. Now it was James’ turn to have a little fun and get messy.

His mom chose an blue ombre cake from my list of cake selections and wanted to pair it with my navy blue banner. She also loved the look of the denim shorts and blue suspenders I brought with me. 

I always start with portraits of the baby prior to the cake smash. This gives variety to the gallery and also gets the babies warmed up to the camera. Some babies don’t like the cake, messiness, or frosting, so having classic portraits beforehand helps ensure we get some great, cute shots.
