Holiday Mini Sessions | Manhattan, NY

A Merry Christmas and a happy holiday to everyone that celebrates! To be quite honest, I wasn’t sure if the holiday mini sessions would happen this year. I had opened up reservations for my holiday mini sessions in August but everything seemed up in the air due to COVID. As November creeped in closer, I began feeling even more nervous as cases started to trend upwards and it seemed like the city was heading backwards.

Luckily, businesses did not close down and I was able to do my holiday mini sessions. This year looked a little differently due to COVID. We took extra precautions at the studio to ensure that everyone was kept as safe as possible. Thanks to my assistant, Amina, everything ran smoothly during the two days of shooting.

It was SO great to see all of my old clients, and meet several new families. This year I had several families who weren’t able to do a newborn session due to COVID. Luckily I was able to meet them during the holiday mini sessions. I also had a few last minute inquiries I was able to fit in as well.

I absolutely loved this year’s theme! The look I was going for was ‘holiday editorial’ and the whole set up came out exactly as planned. My friend and I managed to find these great vintage trunks which paired nicely with the wreath, bow, and vintage ladder. All of the holiday decor accumulates every year, as we try to do a different theme each year.

Pet portraits were popular this year! Three families brought their pets for family photos, which made for the cutest pictures. Every year seems to have a uniqueness to it. Last year I had many crying babies (not so much this year). This year, pets were the superstars!
