Manhattan Newborn Photography Session

Harrison’s cake smash and first birthday photography session was extra special. Harrison happens to be my best friend’s baby who I am head over heels for! He is such a happy, sweet and playful baby. I love hanging out with him and his parents whenever I can. It was extra fun to be able to document his first birthday milestone session, as the last time I photographed him was for his newborn session.

Typically I do these sessions around 11 months so parents can have their images back in time for their first birthday party. With the current pandemic, Harrison’s parents decided to throw a small family gathering instead, so the timing wasn’t critical for his session. Harrison gave me the biggest smiles throughout the entire session! He absolutely loved the attention and when it came to the cake he thoroughly enjoyed licking every last bit of frosting off of his fingers. I don’t think he left any room for his lunch afterwards!

For the cake smash sessions I aim to do two set ups- one portrait set up prior to the messiness to capture their sweet and playful personalities, and then the cake smash itself. This gives parents a ton of variety to choose from when selecting their images. It’s also a great way to get different looks for an album. Harrison’s parents decided to purchase an album of his session, and it came out beautifully! The products are not comparable to anything on the consumer market, and I always encourage parents to purchase tangible products that they can display, touch and hold!
