Ellary’s mom reached out regarding a milestone session for her daughter. Milestone sessions are done between 6-8 months when babies are able to sit up on their own for about 30 seconds at a time. It’s such a cute stage to capture between the newborn and one year cake smash shoot. I also have moms who inquire regarding an alternative to a cake smash session. A milestone shoot is a great way to achieve this. Instead of the cake, I’ll do several different portrait set-ups, and include my ONE letters as a set up. This is also great for babies who have a lot of food allergies and parents want a safe alternative.

Little Miss Ellary gave us the cheekiest smiles during her shoot, as well as some serious faces. I love the combination of expressions babies give at this age. At one point she even gave us a cry face! I also love incorporating silhouette shots into the portrait session. These can be tricky, as they involve the baby sitting on the lap of one parent, and another parent to grab their attention. I remain off to the side, trying to capture their expressions without them moving too much, or looking towards me. I love how her mom chose this cute innocent silhouette for her daughter’s gallery.
