Best Park Slope In-home newborn session
I’ve known Logan’s parents for quite a long time; Logan’s father and I went to the same high school together! I also photographed their older daughter, Ava for her newborn and cake smash sessions.
Logan looked so adorable with the blue and green colors mom picked out for his session. The blues matched his room decor perfectly.
It took Logan a little bit to fall asleep, but that was okay! When this happens I shift my plan and wrap the baby first to get all of the cute wrapped poses. This usually puts them to sleep, and after I finish with wrapped poses (parent shots, prop and sibling shots), I gently unwrap them and they typically stay sound asleep.
During my pediatric residency we always talked about the 5 S’s to get a baby to calm: sucking, swaddling, swaying, shushing and side/stomach positioning (while being observed during the day only!!) These tips also come in handy during a newborn session as well, which is why I always suggest parents have a pacifier on hand, as well as 2 different white noise machines. The white noise machines I use are the baby shusher and the baby hushh.
