Star Cake Smash Photo Session

I love that Maddie’s parents chose this gold and pink star cake for their daughter’s cake smash. I have been itching to use my gold star banner in this pretty pink set up for a while now. Similar to most babies, Maddie was curious initially about her cake, then quickly wanted something else to keep her attention going. Luckily her mama had a mini cupcake which she seemed to love, despite a whole cake sitting in front of her!

Most parents don’t realize how quickly the session can be, as sometimes kids are interested then want to focus on something else. I always have a few tricks on hand for grabbing back their attention. Photographers- if you don’t have a wooden spoon, you MUST get one! This is my biggest trick as they usually like to play with their spoon instead of touching the frosting, and it makes for some super cute photos. My other tricks include puffs/bambas, their favorite fruit, and their favorite song!
